Known for his thoughtful use of materials, Isamu Noguchi often used wood in his designs to make pieces of furniture reflecting surrealism.
As well as producing some of the most influential modern furniture pieces, Isamu Noguchi was also known for his sculptures and stage sets. He was a talented designer who created incredible sculptures, architecture, set designs, gardens, furniture and lighting designs, which are well renowned throughout the world.
In 1947, he began a partnership with the Herman Miller Company, joining the likes of Charles Eames and George Nelson, which sparked the creation of furniture designs that are still in production today. His furniture pieces celebrate the marriage between form and function and offer a structure that combines sculpture and furniture. Some of his famous designs include the Noguchi Coffee Table, the Cyclone Dining Table and the Freeform Sofa.
